South American Express was founded in 1985 in Bolivia, year we launched 13 Generic products from Laboratorio Chile onto the market. That same year, when Bolivia was going through one of the worse depression of its history, SAE obtained a total sale of 13,000 units.

Today, we have 286 product items included in the Bolivian pharmaceutical market, which reach a volume of 1,200,000 units sold annually, representing a 9.130 % growth and enabling SAE to move into 5º place in values and into 4º place in units of the Bolivian pharmaceutical market (source IMS*). Swiss company specializing in statistical commentary on the pharmaceutical market.

In 1992, we became the sole agent of Oral-B, an enterprise specializing in oral hygiene products and a member of the Gillette Corporation. During the first year, we sold 8,000 units of 10 different items, turning SAE into the national leader of the Bolivian market. Later on, we included 32 items and reached an annual sale of 67,000 units, representing 737% of growth in 7 years of work. Our representation of Oral-B concluded in 1999.

In 1996, we began working with Laboratorio Rymco that manufactures disposable medical goods, and introduced in the market 7 different products that reached total annual sales of 350,000 units.

During 1997, we placed on the market the O.T.C. products of Laboratorio Maver of Chile, and reached the first year, an annual sale of 26,000 units out of a 4-item variety. Today, we have achieved annual sales of 122,000 units, moving SAE into the 15th place in values and into the 23rd place in units of the Bolivian pharmaceutical market (source IMS*).

The same year, 1997, we began working with Comanimesa, Spanish company specializing in the manufacture of oral hygiene products. During that period we had reached a sale of 14,000 units, whereas for year 2000 we registered an annual sale of 26,000 units.

By February 2000 we became the sole agent of Foramen, nowadays we place on the market 147,000 units annually.

In October of the same year, we became the sole agent of Colgate, representing its line of toothbrushes and medicated toothpastes. With this line we reached a sale of over 40,000 units in just 4 months of work.

Our Commercial Network is structured by eight regional offices located in the most important cities of Bolivia.

Our Clients have clear evidence of the entire coverage of the commercial circuit comprising: doctors, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, health public institutions and supermarkets.

This network and the commercial circuit allows for the monthly marketing of over 166,000 products in the whole territory of Bolivia.
